A client needed a unique application that would collect data from a website at specific times and display the accumulated data in a graph. The website from which he was pulling his information is a paid service, so I can’t demo it for you, I did put together a similar application using the daily temperature from the NOAA website.
Once a day a script runs which collects the current temperature for Yakima and Seattle and adds it to an XML file. That information can be used in numerous ways, including creating on-the-fly graphs:
