Google Map Places

If you run a community-oriented business have you considered a map showing features of interest around your neighborhood?  The Google Maps API makes it easy.  You can designate items of interest to show, such as:

• Art Galleries
• Restaurants
• Coffee Shops
• Parks,

Here is an example for the main retail district of my city:

There are many things you could do this this.  Put your business at the center of the map with a permanent marker and popup, then show points of interest around you.  Are you a Bed & Breakfast or Hotel?  How about stores and restaurants in walking distance?  A coffee shop?  Show nearby parks or bookstores.  Own rentals or selling a home?  Show nearby amenities.
